Saracen Tower A bit of history Built in the 12th century, this tower bailey is first occupied by the lords Rouge, close to the Counts of Savoy and the Archbishop of Moutiers. The Tour will also the 13th century property and residence of the bishops of Tarentaise.
This tower is called'Saracen, like many others in Savoie, evidence that the violent incursions of Spanish pirates in the 9th and 10th centuries have left an enduring memory in the collective memory. But Saracens'orMoorishreally have nothing to do with the construction of this tower.
